FAMILY SESSIONS WITH BABIES
OVER 3 MONTHS OF AGE
After the newborn stage, age of around 3-4 months is lovely for photos and then my absolute favourite is photographing babies when they are sitting independently, but are not crawling yet, before they loose all that adorable baby fat and while they still have those scrummylicious and chubby thighs. This is typically anywhere between 6-10 months of age. These sessions are really quick and enjoyable. And after that of course the big milestone "1 year old" portraits.
Again to keep my clean and simple style I prefer not to over-clutter or over-accessorise. My family or motherhood sessions are all about the baby and the connection between you and your little one, less looking at the camera and more hugs, kisses, tickles and everything that makes your baby feel loved and happy. You have a choice of a studio or an outdoor sunset session.
Studio family sessions with babies over 3 months of age can be booked for anytime between 10:30am and 1pm Monday to Friday, during summer school holidays usually at 10:30 0r 11am.
Most of my outdoor sessions take place in Raven forest/beach at sunset during spring and early autumn. Urban style outdoor shoots in Wexford town are lovely too.
All sessions are booked with €50 booking fee.

For studio session any soft, pastel or neutral colour tops are great. Light or dusty pink, peach, light blue, light grey, white or light brown. Small patterns for girls or mammies look beautiful in photos. Avoid neon and bold colours and logos, block colour and signs or logos on t-shirts. Plain tops or tank tops with cardigan, blouses, off shoulders tops, tops with lace, light summer maxi dresses are all great for mammies. Comfy jeans and bare feet for even more relaxed photos. Light grey tees or white/light blue shirts with pair of jeans or light brown trousers for fathers. If you like moody/dark family photos black or dark tops are ok. What usually don't work is when one family member is wearing dark top and the rest of the family light tops. There is too much contrast between the dark and light tops - it will look distracting. Light summer dresses without tights, cotton tops or blouses, rompers or light colour dungarees look cute on little girls and for little boys again dungarees are super cute with just a very plain or without t-shirt, plain white tee with light brown trousers or shorts, snug light colour jeans. Babies under 1 year of age look best in a light colour romper, cotton, linen or knit dungarees or in nice simple bodysuit, it doesn't have to be white, all neutral soft colours look nice. I love buying these from Zara for my own kids, they are not expensive and look really nice in photos.

For an outdoor session you can wear something that is tone in tone with nature. Light brown, light pink or light blue are great colours, white and cream works too and for moody dark family photos black, dark grey or dark brown. In winter, coats look nicer and more timeless in family photos rather then the modern winter jackets. Try to stay away from jackets and body warmers/gilets that have high collar, they will cover part of yours or your child's face and this can't be fixed in post processing. You can also have your kids wearing few layers or a thermal t-shirt underneath in winter months so we can take the jackets/coats off for few pictures. Chunky knitted sweaters, wooly hats, jumpers, cardigans look fab. Welly boots look super cute on kids for beach or forest photos, you can put a pair of warm socks on kids in winter time to keep them nice and warm.
Wear comfy shoes (no heels) so you can comfortable sit down on the ground with your family for even more relaxed and natural family portraits. Outdoor sessions can be usually done with babies over 6 months of age. Please don't bring any handbags or buggies with you to the location, all we need is you and your little ones :)
